Bringing more people online across the globe is a vital challenge in front of us!
If you are not already aware then you must be thinking, why bringing more people online is such a big challenge in this high tech era? Aren’t we living in a connected generation already?
Yes you are absolutely right. We are living in a connected generation. WE ARE, right?
But in this generation too, more than 4 billion people from various corners of this world are still not connected via Internet. Can you imagine that?
Nope, I am not giving you any fictitious data but it’s from the report of World Economic Forum. According to the report statistically more than 55% of the global population is still unconnected.
So, are you getting my point? Why am I asking you that the time has come to give a serious thought regarding how we can connect with more people via internet who are still unconnected?
When we are talking too much about about so many new ideas, startups, and entrepreneurship, are we forgetting this vital issue or we are just neglecting it?
An issue which is getting faced by more than half of the people of this world. Why we are still not getting any leap?
The debate may go on, but on a positive note we have to think how we can bring more people online? So that as many as people can get the benefits of being connected in their day to day life.
So simply speaking there need more innovative/ creative ideas and entrepreneurs who want to do something for the mankind keeping aside all kinds of profit & loss equations.
I am not saying that progress hasn’t been made. Lot’s of progress we have seen from the initiative of top Internet giants (like Mozilla) to get more people connected.
Recently Mozilla has announced a global contest called Equal Rating Innovation Challenge for inviting innovative ideas to connect more people to the Internet. The winning prize is $250000 with expert mentor ship.
You can visit Official Mozilla Blog to get more info on this by following the link above.
So a big thanks to Mozilla for making our life better.
So I am inviting all young entrepreneurs to innovate & find out newer ways/ solutions for mankind & be a part of this initiative.
I am giving you some more crucial information, then you will understand why am I telling this to you.
On A recent survey of WWW Foundation some vital data has come up. Those who aren’t still connected are mainly from poor/ rural areas where infrastructure is not up to the mark. Many people are still not connected because they don’t get native content & demographically less women are accessing internet than men.
So now you have got the picture?
Because we are living in a world where Technology is progressing in lightning fast speed. But where is it going? Is it reaching to the person who really needs it ?
So time has come, think out of the box and bring some innovative ideas in the above mentioned areas to bring more people online.
It may be in the field of Technology Backbone/ Infrastructure, Content Creation & Distribution or anything else.
In these years Internet has come a long way but still there is a long road ahead when every people of this world will get the benefit of being connected to internet.
