In low bandwidth, if you want to win Social Media battle with your competitors then don’t just spread your wings everywhere.
Everywhere means in all Social Media Platforms. As you are working in low bandwidth, so you definitely don’t have adequate money & resource, here you have to work slowly & steadily.
Start with few targeted Social Media Platforms then expand gradually. It’s not about how many platforms you are live on, rather how actively you are live on a platform that matters most.
There are different metrics of audience engagement & platform wise it varies largely. Your engagement strategy on Facebook will not work on Twitter. Right?
You have to work out on the strategy of multiple platforms differently. If you jumbled up everything then nothing will turn out to be a success.
Beside this, if you are doing it with low bandwidth (from budget & resource’s aspect) then very soon you will break down.
Because it’s not a one-man show. You can run it single handedly but then don’t expect any return. Because you will get nothing from this mixed up attention.
So let’s break it down, what disadvantages are there of not giving focused attention to some specific social media channels if you are running in low bandwidth from monetary & resource’s perspective.
#1. All outlets will remain as an empty box
Yes. What else can you expect from this. You don’t have enough budget & resource but still you are trying to manage 15 different social media platforms for your digital property.
Now tell me, will you be able to focus properly if it’s the scenario. So at the end of the day all outlets will remain as an empty vessel. You will get no return from it.
#2. Your Audiences will fill totally rubbish
May be it’s seeming harsh but it’s the truth. You have created a social media page but there is no sign of engaging/ relevant content on timely manner, no fresh update & no activity at all.
In this situation what your audiences will think? I know you are running in a restricted bandwidth but for that why your audiences will waste their time by visiting your page?
They will simply feel you are not at all serious about that page & gradually your existing user base will move out.
#3. It will hamper your top priority jobs too
I know how much tough it is to manage a digital property’s social media activities across all channels single-handedly.
Sometimes the attention can get lost if you don’t have enough resources to look after. But for that the pressure comes in mind, it can totally hamper your regular jobs too.
Because you know you don’t have adequate resources but still you have taken the initiative. So when the expectation will not met you will come under pressure internally.
Though it was not mandatory but for this one day your main job will get affected.
If you ask my opinion then I must say scale down your attention span to as few number of Social media platforms you can.
If you start with 1 -2 social media channels initially you will be able to focus properly. After that gradually when your team strength will increase you will easily be able to expand into other platforms.
But from the very beginning don’t ruin your audience engagement by spreading into too many ways.
Hope you have got my point.
