Changing your site’s design on a frequent interval is not at all a good idea in any sense.
Now I have no other work, so why not play with the design of my website. Don’t ever think like this. Changing your site’s design whenever you want is not a professional way by any means.
Remember, it’s your global identity. So maintaining it properly needs consistency. No one relies on inconsistent personalities. Right? Even you also will not like it.
But many people do this exact same thing. They never ever stick to one design for a long time.
After every 2 weeks or 1 month, they update their site’s design (Time frame I have used here just to give you an idea).
I am not saying that updating your website is bad from any sense, even it’s good. No one likes a static website which lacks any fresh update.
But that means from content’s end. If that update signifies a huge design related change frequently then it’s a matter worry.
After a long interval means yearly or bi-yearly if you bring any such change that can be quite acceptable but when it happens just within every few weeks or months that makes the problem.
What problem & why are you talking like this? Is this so serious?
If you are thinking this, then please wait for a few moment & let me clear you everything.
Why shouldn’t you change your site’s design too frequently?
#1. Consistency from design end matters
I, myself as a normal website visitor/ follower of a certain website will never like to experience new changes whenever I visit the site.
A mindset becomes created from the very first visit & you start getting familiar with it (the site) with every visit of yours.
But if you don’t get a consistency & each time if you find that the design has got changed you will feel really annoyed. Isn’t it?
Because you don’t have so much of time to know everything from the beginning on your every visit. Are you getting my point why consistency matters?
Because as I have already mentioned that to get familiarize with different parts/ segments/ areas of any website/ application needs a bit time. There is a learning curve which you can’t bypass.
So after learning each & every nitty-gritty details of any web application/ site from user end, after few weeks if you find that the design has been totally changed with conceptualization, how will you feel?
Will you not feel abandoned? Yes that’s the reason.
#2. Your brand value can get jeopardized
Due to the lack of design consistency if your site’s users/ visitors get annoyed that can create a big impact on your website’s brand value.
Because we can’t rely on a certain thing which annoys us. Not also we can trust.
That’s exactly what happens to your brand. People will never be able to trust you/ your brand if it lacks consistency.
You must have thought you are keeping the site fresh but literally to keep it fresh there are lots of other ways around. Don’t play with your site’s design soo frequently.
It’s your identity and your duty is to strengthen it to create a stronger Brand presence. So don’t just mess with it.
#3. It can hurt your site’s organic reach too from SEO perspective
In the redesign process if you don’t take proper measures then not only your brand’s name but your brand’s entire organic reach can also get hampered.
So do one thing, at first learn the ways/ best practices that you should follow whenever you will take this kind of initiative of changing your site’s design.
Now you know the best practices but it doesn’t mean you will change the design frequently. Everything should be in a proper way.
If you bring any design update in a year then it’s justifiable but every now & then changing the design is totally meaningless. You have to take care of the situation mentioned in the first 2 points too.
These are really crucial for your brand value.
So, now are you getting my point?
