Will cater service to 10 million Indians, initially in 100 busiest railway stations and then 400 stations across India!
Google has taken this initiative in collaboration with Indian Railway & RailTel, for providing free high-speed public wi-fi service in 100 busiest railway stations of our country by the end of this year, from which more than 10 million people will be benefited nationwide.
Not only that, after implementing the service in 100 busiest stations by the end of this year, it will be expanded to cover 400 train stations across India.
As a successful continuation of the project, yesterday Google has announced that, another 5 new railway stations, Allahabad, Guwahati, Jaipur, Patna & Ujjain have come under the radar of Google’s free high-speed public Wi-Fi service!
With this, total number of railway stations (where this service is implemented) has reached to 15.
Day by day how the demand of free high-speed public wi-fi service is increasing across different stations, based on that, this initiative will be highly beneficial for everyone specially to the common people like us.
So within the end of this year, 100 train stations will come under the umbrella of Google-RailTel project, means all these stations will provide free hi-speed public wi-fi service to all passengers.
To provide this entire service Google is using RailTel’s extensive fibre optic network. So RailTel is the network infrastructural partner in this collaboration with its countrywide extensive network backbone.
As the service is now live in 15 railway stations, so based on the response Google is planning to expand the service further. How?
After getting great response from Mumbai Central, now Google in association RailTel, is planning to implement the service in several key suburban stations of Mumbai.
Millions of people use Mumbai Suburban railway regularly for their work & many other purpose, so if the stations like Dadar, ChurchGate, Thane and many more (according to the plan) get this free high-speed wi-fi facility, then it will be highly beneficial for passengers.
So, with the current progress we can expect that within the end of this year 100 railway stations across India will get this service & gradually it will expand in other stations too according to the plan of Google & RailTel.
