When you are a blogger or writer then you may have faced this type of issue that you are thinking hard but not getting a clear idea to write a solid post because all days are not equal. Right? Or you may have lot of ideas in your mind but at the time of writing you are puzzled about which idea to take or how to approach. So these are the two very basic reasons on which a huge amount of time is wasted.
So don’t panic you are not alone there are many other bloggers who face the same issues. That’s why you need to maintain an Editorial Calendar on weekly or monthly basis. If you are a solo blogger and not running a multi author blog then I will recommend you to maintain weekly editorial calendar because you may not find a huge number post ideas at a stretch so take small step and create editorial calender on weekly basis. Then whenever you find new ideas add to the calendar gradually. You can also check out Top 10 best practices to get fresh ideas for blogging to achieve a constant flow of ideas.
Now you may ask what is editorial calendar? In it’s simplest form it’s basically a table or chart where two things will be mentioned days/ dates and topic you will cover on that date. It will be for a specific period of time like weekly or monthly. It’s one way, but you can always add other necessary things according to your need in the calendar. Take it as your routine chart in your old school days. You can make it in a piece of paper or notepad in computer or you can also use some sophisticated plugins if you are using WordPress as your blogging platform or any other way. Choice is your’s.
In this way you will have a list of topics and the dates on which you will cover them. So just focus on that topic no more unnecessary thinking.
Create a daily Time Table and try to follow regularly
Create a general time table for your regular workdays. In a complete day you not just only write. There are lot of other things that you have to do with your writing.
Suppose you are a full time blogger then beside writing you need to do idea generation, editing, seo, social media activities, reputation management with your other natural works like sleeping, eating, go for a walk, chatting with friends etc.
If you are a part time blogger then beside all of this you have a regular job. So I think you got the point why you need to manage your time effectively.
If you don’t make a schedule then all your work will be mixed up and at the end of the day you will find that you have given so much time on certain things that some important things are still unfinished. So make a time table, move with time and live a healthy life.
You can also create a table for each day. Everyday at night before go to sleep just point out the task you will perform next day and their timings. This approach helps to focus on day to day basis.
So take focused approach make a time table and try to work according to that. If you take a scheduled approach then after completing a day you will find that you have completed lot of things. In this process you will learn to manage your time effectively.
