Your Organisation’s Policy is in a mess but still, no one is bothered about it. Why?
In Spite of not having any proper Policy & Guidelines in your company, no one has any interest to make things straight. Have you ever wondered why is it happening like this?
I have thought many times after facing constant Failures, Blame Games, Quarrels, Set Backs & Intra-Organisational Politics that what could be the main reason of it.
Because all know where the main problem is, but still no one is interested of taking any corrective measures. Why?
Is everyone enjoying the Chaotic Surroundings or there is something deep dug inside the Organisation’s DNA?
Otherwise how a basic problem like this can sustain for such a long time which is constantly degrading the organisational value, culture & ethics.
Every day people are complaining about it from Top to Bottom but no one is showing any urge of taking the plunge to change it. Why?
Why 7 out of 10 Client Side Demo of your Enterprise application is failing again & again but nobody is doing nothing?
Why 8 out of 10 of your Applications are totally buggy but still year after year they are in the same state instead of having a resource rich QA Team?
All these & many more problems occur simply due to the lack of proper IT (Information Technology) Policy & Guidelines.
No one is taking an action because the problem is deeply rooted in the DNA of your Organisation as I have mentioned it.
So let’s delve a bit deeper into it to find out why exactly this is happening?
The Following reasons may justify the quest a bit, just have a look!
#1. There has no Urge from Management’s End
When a Company’s Management Team Becomes Ineffective & just start following orders of the CEO instead of bringing any collective value to the table, this happens.
Because in any organisation CEO possesses the top decision-making power but if that becomes one man show and entire Management Team becomes a Puppet of him, this happens.
#2. The Company has become a Total Family Affair
A Professional Entity can’t be run like a Family Affair. So when it becomes such that initiates the new era towards the end.
Because when a company is driven by some incapable resources who are chosen by the key person’s favour without considering any required factors for the corresponding designation, do you think they will ever be able to take any valuable & bold decision. I doubt it.
To establish a strong IT Policy there need some members in the Management Team who have real Backbone.
But if those members are thankful to the CEO due to their in-capabilities they will never be able to bring such changes.
#3. The head of the company wants to control everything Single-Handedly
You are the CEO, fine do the job what a CEO is supposed to do. But don’t just get your hands dirty by doing day-to-day unnecessary stuffs.
There are corresponding staffs to look after those. It’s a very bad habit when a CEO thinks he knows everything & try to put his nose in all affairs.
Not just putting his nose but when he thinks in every affair his decision is the end, no Good resource can continue his/ her job in a such a position.
Maybe the CEO knows nothing about the design. But when he takes charge of it entirely to decide which design is good & which is bad instead of having a qualified resource for that, what can be expected.
So this is also another reason why no IT Policy & Guidelines can stand in such a position. Because a King also needs Counsellors and a wise King always listen to them.
#4. The Senior Employees have also become the part of it
The Senior Employees are the next valuable decision makers after the management team. In a well-managed professional organisation, the Senior Employees play a huge role.
But when everything is in a mess & year after year running in a same way then some loopholes also get exposed to the employees.
Which they start using in their own favour. Now suddenly if the management decides to make everything straight that could be really harmful to them.
So in that time, they start playing internal games to stop it or negate it by various means.
Huh…. so you were thinking why no stone is turning even an inch towards the improvement when everybody knows about it. I hope you got the answer of why!
