A great news, this week on 4th November, 2013 LG Electronics has officially launched new Device Loaner Program in San Francisco. Through this new program, LG Electronics is expanding, LG Android Developers Program. Last week in LG Android Developers’ VIP Event in San Francisco, this new program was previewed. In that event LG also introduced LG QRemote SDK, a brand new Software Development Kit from LG, for developers.
Cecilia Son, LG’s head of mobile developer relations in North America, said,
When multiple developers followed up after the event, thanking LG for ‘doing it right’, we know we’re giving them what they want. By providing the Android developer community with a new SDK and the latest LG devices to test their apps on, we’re living up to our brand promise, ‘With LG, it’s all possible.’ We are giving them the tools to help inspire some great new apps– Ones we expect to see on the LG App Store very soon.
Basically through this program the developers will get a chance to borrow a latest LG device for a 30 day period, for testing and debugging their apps on latest LG Devices.
Now if you are an Android developer then you must be curious about how to be a part of this awesome program of LG. But before discussing that, one important thing I want to inform you all, you can only take part in this program if you are from US or Canada.
Here are the details about this program. It’s a very simple three step process. At first you need to register in the LG Device Loaner Program website, after that you need to complete an order form by mentioning your desired LG Device and after 30 days of loan period you have to return the device. The program is free for the developer community. But the developers have to bear the shipping cost when returning the device after the completion of loan period.
Using the latest QRemote SDK, the developers will be able to create different QuickRemote apps for controlling various consumer electronics devices of LG, like TVs, set top boxes, audio systems, air conditioners etc. Beside this, the new QRemote SDK also let the developers to develop Infra-red remote sensor enabled applications by providing open apps.
So, overall it’s a very good initiative from LG.
