It’s quite a remarkable achievement what Netherlands has done in the field of Wind Energy utilisation.
From the very first day of January 2017, train riding in Netherlands have become 100% green. Because all the Trains over there are now running on Wind Energy.
It’s a big step towards Green Energy transformation of a country. Otherwise you tell me, how can you transform your country into a greener one on Energy usage front?
What steps you should take first and which Energy Driven area’s source of Energy you should transform first from Traditional one to Renewable source?
The countrywide transportation is a huge Energy driven area. Right? Especially the Train Transportation across the country.
If this area can be transformed totally from traditional energy sources like, Diesel, Electricity etc. to more Renewable ones (Wind/ Solar), there could be nothing better than that.
Though Electric Trains are far superior than normal cars but Renewable Energy Source like Wind Power will drastically reduce the Carbon footprint of the country.
So those of you who were thinking what was the necessity to transform the Electric Trains into Wind Powered, you must have got the answer, right?
National Rail Company of The Netherlands (NS – Nederlandse Spoorwegen) had jointly taken this initiative with Energy Company Eneco in 2015. The main agenda was to cut down the emission level drastically.
To make the 100% transformation happen, they had set a completion time till 2018 but the target has been achieved 1 year before the scheduled timeline. It shows their commitment to make the environment cleaner & greener.
According to the report from Clean Technica, the electricity consumed by train transportation in Netherlands in a complete year, is equal to the total households electricity consumption of Amsterdam itself.
So this new step will not only save electricity to a great extent but it will also reduce the carbon footprint drastically which is highly required to make a country Cleaner & Greener
On the 100% target achievement it has been stated that due to the completion of new Wind Farms in The Netherlands, Belgium & Finland this has been possible.
So as a country man of India I will also expect that the Govt. of India too will take this kind of Initiative gradually for making our country greener by reducing the Carbon footprint.
This Initiative by The Netherlands is a Landmark for many of the countries which are still struggling to take this kind of step on bigger scale.
