The Journey is understood but why WordPress & Jazz?
Why are you trying to tie both with the same string & mixing it up with the journey of WordPress? A good question, let me clarify it gradually, it’s quite interesting.
If we go back to the very beginning, we will find that WordPress has a quite sweet relation with Jazz Music from the initial days of its journey.
Due to the fondness of Jazz Music of its core developers, each time when a major version comes, they name it after any famous Jazz Musicians.
From the initial major release of WP 1.o on 3rd Jan 2004, which named after Miles Davis to the latest one, ver 4.7 dubbed as Vaughan, all are named after some Legendary Jazz Musicians of past & present.
If you check the Chronological listing from the beginning, you will get the entire picture of how WordPress has evolved & the naming details.
So here is a composed list of some of the major versions which named after famous Jazz personalities.
- ver 1.0 – Miles Davis
- ver 1.5 – Billy Strayhorn
- ver 2.0 – Duke Ellington
- ver 2.5 – Michael Brecker
- ver 3.0 – Thelonious Monk
- ver 3.5 – Elvin Jones
- ver 4.0 – Benny Goodman
- ver 4.5 – Coleman Hawkins
- ver 4.7 – Sarah Vaughan
I have also analysed and drawn another conclusion regarding how WordPress is connected with Jazz & Poetry. The Jazz connection you have already found out, now the poetry part.
Because, the signature phrase of WordPress is “Code Is Poetry”.
But it’s a popular saying that Music & Poetry can’t fit on the same page except hip-hop.
But WordPress has brilliantly blended them together, the melody of Jazz through their naming with the essence of Poetry through their Culture.
WordPress, the brain child of Matt Mullenweg & Mike Little, has come a long way in these 13 years, from the release of its first version on May 27th, 2003 to the latest one.
From a very humble beginning as a Free & Open Source CMS to a Content Management Powerhouse (Still Free) which is powering 26% of all website Globally. As per latest report from DMR.
Many of the most popular websites of the world are using WordPress, so the value it has generated in these years is totally undeniable.
With its Product, Support, Culture & Excellence, I also think that their (who are behind WordPress) unmatched creativity with vision has helped them to reach into the hearts of billions across the Globe.
So, they say it rightly that “Code Is Poetry” & a little addition from me is “Code can be a Musical Poetry too”.
A long way to go WordPress! We are all with you as Enthusiasts, Die-Hard Supporters & Fanboys.
