For the sake of your Facebook page’s sanity, configuring the Visitor Posts setting is really important!
You can’t just let anyone to post on your Facebook page right? Because it’s your/ your brand’s identity where you post content following a proper strategy.
It can’t be the open forum for everybody. Even if you want to open it for everyone to post their works & opinions relevant to your goal then you have to take some prior actions.
Here actions means some necessary precautions from approval/ moderation aspect. From the page settings section, you can easily impose different kinds of restrictions on Visitors posts.
If you are still not aware about this feature or listening it for the first time then you must be thinking,
Is there any such feature for Facebook pages, I knew that only in Facebook Groups we can set this kind of restrictions
Yes you are absolutely right that in Facebook Groups we can set various kinds of posting restrictions for community members.
But from Visitor Posts segment you can easily accomplish such things for any of page too in Facebook.
Now the question is why is it so important?
Although I have already touched this issue few lines back but for your convenience, I am discussing it once again in a deeper note.
If you don’t set any restrictions for Visitor Posts on your Facebook Page, then
- Your brand’s value can be degraded as you are letting anyone to post without any moderation
- Your reputation can be at stake due inappropriate/ obscene content publishing
- Engagement level of the page can get hurt
- A wrong message can go to all your page users
So the Why part is over, now the question is How?
Just go to the General Settings section of your Facebook Page or the Page you are managing. On that page, after “Favourites” & “Page Visibility” you will find the “Visitor Posts” option.
Just click on the edit button. You will find two prominent options. Enable/ Disable visitors or other people to publish posts on your page.
From the description of those points, it’s quite clear that what those two options actually mean. If you click on the second option then no other users/ visitors will be able to publish anything on your page.
But if you choose the first option by allowing visitors to publish on your Facebook page then further you can control that in two ways.
One is, you can allow visitors to publish Photo & Videos which will come to the respective sections of your page.
And the another option is it will add an extra layer of security, means without review & your approval any post by other people will never get published on the page.
So based on your requirement you can choose either one or all two sub menu options.
I hope you have understood why this Visitor Posts control is necessary for maintaining the sanity of your Facebook Page.
Now let me know if you have any question.
