It means, many Fake News from Spammers, who pretend/ showcase themselves as any of the reputed media outlets are coming to the network.

It has really become a big headache for Facebook as their reputation & user’s experience are getting hampered.

Not only that, people are also getting mislead & wrongly influenced by these information to a great extent.

So, to clean up all these messes, Facebook has decided to play with a straight bat against all these Fake News & Hoaxes.

With the help of various reputed Fact Checking Organisations, they are strategizing their initiative of fight with Hoaxes.

According to the report, gathering updates from the community & other signals, Facebook will send stories to those Fact Checking organizations.

After that, once the organizations will identify a story as Fake/ Hoax, that will be flagged as disputed.

Once a story will get flagged as disputed, a link will come which will lead to a corresponding post/ article for a proper explanation. After this, the story will never come on the top of the News Feed.

Now you may ask, is this possible to share a Flagged Story? It can be shared but a warning will be shown as a Pop-up.

Apart from this, the story can’t be used for any promotional purposes, like Ads or something like that.

The issue related to Fake & Misleading News has become really serious one during the Election time in US.

When a totally Hoax news misleads someone & influence to take a wrong decision, may be financially or in any other way, that can’t be ignored. Because it’s an offense.

It has also been found that many times Evil Doers/ Spammers spread a false news in the name of any reputed media outlet. But when anyone lands there, it has been found that it’s simply an Ad

But when anyone lands there, it has been found that it’s simply an Ad. So spammers are using this technique to bring visitors to their sites.

So in this way Spammers are making money too by cheating people & sometimes influencing them in a wrong direction. It’s one way, there are other ways too.

Facebook is taking various measures to fight with these scenarios. One such example is, eliminating the Domain Spoofing. Apart from this, they are analyzing the Publishers sites too.

So a good step has been taken to make the entire Social Network clean from all these False/ Junk/ Misleading Information.

One of the Senior Executive of Facebook has also mentioned that they will be kept working as long it takes to get everything straight.

Let’s see how this new initiative by the Social Media Giant turns out!
